Gift card information
The business provides the recipient's email and an optional message. We process them to deliver the gift and register it to an account with that verified email. We retain the issuer, currency, amount, balance and applicable history of issuance, registration, redemptions, refunds and validity changes.
The email provider receives the information needed to deliver the message and link. The issuing business and authorized staff access the limited information they need to operate the gift card. We use records to show balances, handle questions and disputes, prevent misuse and meet applicable obligations. Opening the information link does not consume the gift or make a payment.
Business gift card terms
Gift cards are available for verified businesses. The issuing business is responsible for its goods, services and offered terms. It may record a sale paid outside Yo Lo Tengo or issue a complimentary gift. Yo Lo Tengo records the benefit; this feature does not charge the buyer or pay the business.
The balance is specific to the issuing business and stated currency. It is separate from points, is not a general balance for other businesses and is not automatically converted between currencies. The recipient must register the gift using the verified email it was sent to. Redemption, including partial redemption, requires a temporary code and confirmation by authorized staff; the amount is deducted from the balance and recorded in the history.
Cards are issued without expiration by default. If a validity date is enabled for the relevant case and jurisdiction, it must appear in the gift's terms. Expiration does not erase the recorded balance or remove the issuer's applicable obligations. Refunds and any right to cash redemption are handled with the business under its terms and applicable law. The app can record a refund made outside Yo Lo Tengo; it does not automatically disburse money.
Gift cards when deleting your account
Account deletion blocks access and pending codes; contact information and messages on registered gifts are anonymized. Amounts, currency and movements needed to maintain the business's records, resolve disputes or meet obligations may remain, along with minimal controls preventing access by a deleted account. Retention depends on that purpose and applicable obligations; this notice does not set a universal retention period.
Deleting an account does not issue a refund or by itself cancel a business's obligation regarding an outstanding balance. Before deletion, contact the issuer and support about gifts you want to manage. Creating another account with the same email does not automatically restore previous cards.
